Hotel Varmaland

Hotel Varmaland re-opened in 2019 after an extensive renovation. During the renovation, the history of the place was mixed with comfortable and modern design, so it became an elegant hotel in the heart of Borgarfjordur, ideal for relaxing in beautiful surroundings and nature.

The hotel has 60 rooms of different types so you can choose a room that suits your needs. The rooms are in Scandinavian style where simplicity and comfort comes hand in hand. The economy room is a good option for one person or a couple but in the Standard rooms it is possible to choose between double bed or twin bed. Deluxe and Superior rooms are larger and it is possible to add extra beds so the rooms can accommodate up to four guests. All rooms are with private bathroom and bath products, a tv, tea - and coffee-making facilities and WiFi is available throughout the hotel.

Calor Restaurant

On the top floor you will find the restaurant Calor which offers 360 panoramic view of the hotel’s surroundings as well as tasty food from the region. A buffet breakfast is served every morning as well as a la carte menu for dinner. The restaurant Calor is ideal for festive occasions such as corporate celebrations, wedding receptions, confirmations and birthdays. Inside the restaurant is a small room accommodating up to 30 people suitable for smaller groups, meetings, presentations and lectures.  Glass walls are on all sides of the restaurant offering incredible view of the surroundings and large balconies to the south and the north for an even better view.

Hotel Varmaland is surrounded by beautiful nature all around such as Hraunfossar waterfalls, Krauma Natural Geothermal Baths and Deildartunguhver hot spring.

There are many natural hot springs in the area that are used as energy source for the region. The steam and the great number of greenhouses in the area give mystical look on the hotel surrounding both during summer and winter.

The hotel is surrounded by many natural attractions and interesting places to see and visit; including Krauma Geothermal baths, Reykholt and Snorralaug, Háafell Goatfarm, Giljaböð and Húsafell where you can find a golf course and a swimming pool, and Langjökull glacier where you can enjoy various outdoor activitites. By the waterfall Glanni in Norðurárdalur is the Glanni Golf Course which is one of the most beautiful 9-hole golf course in Iceland country and great for both beginner as well as experiencedt golfers.

The swimming pool at Varmaland is an outdoor pool with hot tubs and is open daily from 1. June until mid-August. There is also a big camping spot in the area that is open during the summer, suitable for groups and families.
