What you'll do
Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik
Your Iceland adventure begins as you arrive in Reykjavik, the capital city. Upon arrival, check into your hotel for your first night. You’ll have the evening free to explore Reykjavik, wander around its vibrant streets, and enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants. This is a great opportunity to take in the culture, architecture, and coastal views of Iceland’s bustling capital.
Day 2: Reykjavik to Olafsvik
After breakfast, pick up your rental car and start your scenic drive north to Olafsvik, a small village known for its incredible whale watching opportunities. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel, conveniently located next to the harbor, where you’ll have easy access to your whale watching trips. Spend the evening relaxing or take a stroll around Olafsvik to admire the stunning surroundings.
Day 3: Whale Watching Tour
On your third day in Iceland, embark on your first whale watching tour. Departing from the harbor in Olafsvik, this trip offers the chance to spot orcas, humpback whales, and other marine life that thrive in these waters. The waters around Olafsvik are famous for being home to various whale species, and this experience is sure to be one of the highlights of your trip. After the tour, you will have free time in the afternoon to explore the village, visit the local fish market, or simply enjoy the peace of the Arctic landscape.
Day 4: Second Whale Watching Tour & Leisure Day
Enjoy your second whale watching tour on the morning of day four. With each tour offering different opportunities to witness the majestic marine life, your second outing provides another chance to see more whales and possibly even spot seals and sea birds. After your tour, spend the afternoon at leisure. You may choose to explore Olafsvik further, visit the nearby Snaefellsnes Peninsula for more stunning landscapes, or simply relax at your hotel.
Day 5: Olafsvik to the Blue Lagoon
After a leisurely breakfast, begin your drive back south toward the famous Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa located near Reykjavik. On arrival, check into your hotel near the Blue Lagoon. This is the perfect place to unwind after your adventure. Enjoy your included entrance to the Blue Lagoon, where you can soak in the mineral-rich, warm waters that are renowned for their healing properties. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, enjoying the unique surroundings, and indulging in the spa’s restorative treatments.
Day 6: Departure Day
On your final day, you’ll drive to Keflavik airport for your return flight. After dropping off your rental car, board your flight home.
