What you'll do
Day 1: Arrival in Keflavik & Car Hire Pickup
Arrive at Keflavik International Airport, Iceland, where you'll pick up your 4WD rental car. From here, you’ll drive to your hotel in the Reykjavik area, where you will stay for the next three nights. After checking in and settling in, you have the rest of the day free to either explore Reykjavik, relax after your journey, or enjoy the beautiful surrounding landscapes.
Day 2: The Secret Lagoon & Golden Circle Exploration
Start your day with a visit to the Secret Lagoon in the morning, a geothermal hot spring located in the village of Fludir. This natural hot pool is a perfect way to relax and experience Iceland's geothermal beauty. Afterward, embark on a self-guided tour of the Golden Circle, one of Iceland’s most popular tourist routes. Begin with the Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can see the meeting point of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Next, visit Geysir, the famous geothermal area with erupting hot springs, and finally, head to the stunning Gullfoss Waterfall, a powerful two-tier waterfall that’s one of Iceland’s most iconic sights.
Day 3: South Coast Exploration & Blue Lagoon
Today, you’ll venture out to explore the stunning South Coast. Drive along the scenic route and stop at the famous Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, where you can walk behind the falls for a unique perspective. Continue to Skogafoss Waterfall, another majestic sight, before heading to Reynisfjara, the black sand beach with its striking basalt columns and view of the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. In the afternoon or evening, make your way to the Blue Lagoon, where you can soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters, surrounded by a volcanic landscape. This is the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploration.
Day 4: Departure
On your final day, enjoy a leisurely morning, depending on your flight time. You can either explore Reykjavik further or take a relaxing drive around the nearby Reykjanes Peninsula. Afterwards, return your rental car at Keflavik Airport and board your flight home, taking with you unforgettable memories of Iceland’s incredible landscapes and unique geothermal experiences.
