Day 1: Arrive in Iceland
Fly in from your chosen UK airport and land safely at Keflavik.
Pick up your car hire from the airport and drive to your Reykjavik hotel
Take the afternoon to explore the capital and enjoy some tasty Icelandic food for dinner

Day 2: Explore Reykjavik
Spend another day in Reykjavik. You can choose whether to explore at your own pace or you can book one of our Reykjavik sightseeing tours at an extra cost. You will learn about the rich history and culture that shaped Iceland by visiting the prime landmarks and attractions in and around the capital city. Sit back and enjoy educational commentary, interesting facts, and stories that relate to the most important locations in and around Reykjavik.

Day 3: Snaefelsness Peninsula
Drive along the coast road in a westerly direction passing under the Hvalfjordur and then onto the Snaefelsness Peninsula via Borgarnes where you will be staying for 2 nights.
In Snaefelsness you will find a wonderland of great geothermal activity with the most photographed mountain in Iceland, charming little fishing villages and extraordinary sights. The peninsula is often nicknamed “Iceland in a nutshell” due to its vast variety in and contrast!

Day 4: Explore Snaefelsness
Continue your exploration of the Snaefelsness taking in Olafsvik, Snaefjokull glacier and Arnarstapi.

Stay 5: Akureyri
Drive onwards north to Akureyri where you will stay for two nights
No matter what time of year you visit Akureyri, there's always something fun to do. It is the gateway to the spectacular beauty of the north, most notably the Mývatn region, Dettifoss waterfall, Goðafoss waterfall and Ásbyrgi canyon. If you are going to Akureyri, you should spend at least a day in the town itself but then venture out and explore the nearby breathtaking locations.

Day 6: Explore Akureyri
Continue your exploration of Akureyri.

Day 7: Husavik
Continue on to Husavik. The town of Húsavík sits on the eastern shore of Shaky Bay, known around the world as Whale Capital of Iceland.
In the past years whales have been spotted in 98% of all whale watching trips. It is also the site of the first house built in Iceland, in the year 860, by Swedish viking Garðar Svavarsson. Húsavík is conveniently located for day trips to most of the major attractions in Iceland, part of the Arctic Coast Way and the starting point of the Diamond Circle.

Day 8: Cross the Interior
Drive across the interior of Iceland via highway 35 stopping to bathe in the hot springs at Hveravellir.
The route passes between the 2 glaciers of Langjokull and Hofsjokull and continues to Gulfoss and Geysir.
Combining history, culture and extraordinary nature, you can see Thingvellir National Park and walk among the geological wonders of the fissure zone and in the footsteps of the early Viking settlers where the Althingi parliament was founded. You can then see the Gullfoss and feel the mist of glacial water as it cascades down one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. Finally, you can witness the Geysir and hear the bubbling of the mud pots, smell the sulphur in the air and watch in awe as the geyser Strokkur blasts boiling water into the air.

Day 10: The Blue Lagoon
Drive back towards the Blue Lagoon for your last full day in Iceland.
The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa in southwestern Iceland. The spa is located in a lava field near Grindavík and in front of Mount Þorbjörn on Reykjanes Peninsula, in a location favourable for geothermal power, and is supplied by water used in the nearby Svartsengi geothermal power station. The Blue Lagoon is approximately 20 km from Keflavík International so easy to return your car before you fly home the next day.

Day 11: Fly Home
Drive to the airport and drop the car hire off
Fly back to the UK
