What you'll do

Day 1: Arrive in Iceland

Fly in from your chosen UK airport and land safely at Keflavik.

Pick up your car hire from the airport and drive to the Northern Light Inn.

Take the afternoon to explore. Visit the Blue Lagoon in the morning before you head towards Vik. 

Day 2:  The Blue Lagoon

Spend the morning in the Blue Lagoon, experience the amazing tranquilty of the geothermal seawaters and relax in this unique place. In the afternoon drive from the Blue Lagoon to Vik, on the way you may wish to stop at the LAVA centre at Hvolsvöllur to explore Icelands inner workings!. Vik is one of the most visited towns in Iceland this is because it is surrounded by beautiful scenery such as the black sands beach, you can also visit the famous waterfall's of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss and visit Vik church, Skaftfellingur Museum. There's lots of hiking and you can even book onto a snowmobiling tour on the glacier Mýrdalsjökull, or a glacier walk.

Day 3: Vik

Continue to stay at Vik as there's so much to see in the south of Iceland.

Day 4: The Golden Cirlce

Today you will drive to the Golden Circle. Combining history, culture and extraordinary nature, you can see Thingvellir National Park and walk among the geological wonders of the fissure zone and in the footsteps of the early Viking settlers where the Althingi parliament was founded. You can then see the mighty Gullfoss and feel the mist of glacial water as it cascades down one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls.  Finally, you can witness the Geysir's and hear the bubbling of the mud pots, smell the sulfur in the air and watch in awe as the geyser Strokkur blasts boiling water into the air.

Day 5: South Iceland

Continue to stay at New Hotel Geysir so you can explore the surroundings of this unique area. There are several swimming pools you could visit such as Reykholt in Fludir or Minni Borg or you could visit Slakki petting zoo perfect for families perhaps scuba dive between two fissures at Silfra?

Day 6: Explore Reykjavik

Today you will drive to the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik and stay at the Boutique Hotel Odinsve. Spend the rest of the day exploring this unique capital perhaps visit the Perlan or the famous concert hall (Harpa) down by the harbour maybe book a hop on or hop off bus tour of the city, enjoy the food, sights and sounds of this wonderful place.

Day 7: Whale Watching

Whilst in Reykjavik you can enjoy a whale watching tour (summer months only or northern lights winter months). Abundant summer daylight combined with a unique mixture of cold and warm sea currents that blend in Iceland's shallow fjords make the Icelandic territorial waters home to a rich variety of krill and fish, and consequently a bountiful feeding ground that attracts twenty-three species of whales.

Day 8: Fly Home

Drive back to Keflavik Airport, return your car and check in for your return flight home.
