When crossing Breiðafjördur Bay from Stykkishólmur to Brjánslækur or back, there is a possibility to stop-off at the charming island of Flatey where time literally stands still. Most of Flatey´s houses are from the 19th century so strolling about gives one the impression of traveling back in time.
On the Island you´ll fin a new hotel 'Hotel Flatey', which is in two beautifully renovated old houses. The hotel also operates a charismatic restaurant that specializes in local products.

It‘s best to be at the office 30 minutes before departure to pick up the tickets. You just say your name and receive your tickets. The office is on the harbour. When you drive onboard make sure you tell the crew that you‘re going to stop in Flatey, they take your car keys and drive the car out for you on Brjánslækur. When you get onboard again the day after your keys will be on the Ferry and the car on the harbour.
