Eyja Guldsmeden Hotel

One of the younger members of our Guldsmeden family lives in Reykjavik, and her name is Eyja Guldsmeden. This lovely hotel is a modern former office building, and therefore quite different from most of our other buildings, which are typically turn-of-the-century European, and we were very excited to see how our messy bohemian style and unstructured maximalism would translate into a modern, more gritty environment – and were happy to say that the operation was a success!

Eyja couldn´t have turned out better – the classic Guldsmeden design touches thrive with a more modern approach, and Eyja is a lovely example of the natural progression of the Guldsmeden Hotels style that happens with each new house!  Eyja Guldsmeden is located in the up-and-coming downtown Reykjavik area, with a fantastic view over the city and our very own signature mountain Esja. 

Located next to Hlemmur Square, this hotel is just off Laugavegur, the main shopping street in Reykjavík. It offers a view over the city and Esja Mountain. Balinese-style furnishings and 4-poster beds are featured in all rooms at Eyja Guldsmeden Hotel. Each also has a flat-screen TV and a bathroom with Guldmeden's own organic toiletries.

Some rooms have a view over the sea, mountain or city. The on-site restaurant offers local and organic options. Guests can also enjoy a bar at Eyja Guldsmeden, as well as a fitness centre and bicycle hire. The area is popular for cycling. Hallgrímskirkja Church is 0.6 miles away, while Harpa Concert Hall & Conference Centre, the National Museum of Iceland and Reykjavík Domestic Airport are all within 1.2 miles of the hotel.
