Magma Hotel is a small and intimate hotel located in one of the most beautiful regions of south Iceland, close to Kirkjubaejarklaustur.
The view from the hotel is unique a lake rich with birdlife, moss covered lava fields, a black sand glacial river, as well as volcanoes and Vatnajokull glacier looming in the distance. It’s also the perfect place to catch a glimpse of the majestic northern lights in winter. Stay at Magma Hotel to relax and enjoy nature in a modern, yet charming atmosphere.
Magma Hotel offers 25 rooms. 15 standard, 6 deluxe and 4 family rooms.
All thoughtfully designed, comfortable and well equipped. All of our standard, deluxe, and family rooms are designed in a modern Nordic theme and offer spectacular lake and lava field views from a private patio.
The bistro at Magma Hotel takes its name from the year Lakagígar erupted and created the vast lava field next to the hotel. The bistro, which has a great view of Vatnajökull, is warm and cosy with a comfortable atmosphere perfect for relaxing, spending time with your travel companions and to meet other like-minded travellers. At the bistro you can enjoye quality coffee and tea throughout the day, and there are books and magazines to peruse as well as boardgames for your group to enjoy. The setting is romantic as well, as couples can enjoy dinner and drinks over candlelight.
Start your day at Bistro 1783 right with a hearty breakfast buffet including freshly baked bread and pastries, Icelandic Skyr, fresh fruit, bacon and eggs, a selection of cereals, quality coffee and tea and more. In the evening, Magma Hotel offers a delicious home-style dinner in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The dishes vary depending on the season, but you will always find fresh local ingredients, healthy options and Icelandic dishes.
